Recommendation and Presentation
The author, Rev. Elias do Amaral Viana, is a dedicated scholar, endowed with a brilliant mind and remarkable theological ability. He was my student in the Master’s/Doctoral program in Theology at Cohen University & Theological Seminary, in partnership with FATEFÉ, headquartered in Arujá, São Paulo. He has always stood out among his peers and has been widely admired by professors and colleagues for his academic seriousness, depth of thought, and commitment to the teaching of the Scriptures.
The text presents the initial content of the book A Jewish Wanderer in Brazil, the autobiography of the Baptist missionary Salomão Luís Ginsburg, including the table of contents, editorial notes, biographies, and the preamble of the work. The 2026 edition has been revised, updated, and annotated, preserving the historical content of the 1931 translation by Manoel Avelino de Souza, an important Brazilian Baptist leader. The editor reports a profound emotional impact while reading the work, highlighting its spiritual and historical importance for Protestantism in Brazil.
I recommend this work to researchers, pastors, teachers, church leaders, and the general public interested in the history of Protestantism and the expansion of the Gospel in Brazil. It is a relevant study of the life and trajectory of A Jewish Wanderer in Brazil: Salomão Luís Ginsburg. Dr. Rev. Prof. Pedro Salvador de Azevedo
