I picked this up thinking it would be about fancy lighting, but I was surprised by how much it focuses on ROI and energy efficiency. The author does a great job explaining how to use automation to actually lower utility bills and increase property value, rather than just buying toys. The 'Smart Home ROI' chapter helped me justify the budget to my spouse. A very practical, grounded approach.

Finally, a smart home guide that takes privacy seriously. I've always been hesitant about filling my house with microphones and cameras, but this book breaks down how to build a secure system that keeps data local instead of sending everything to the cloud. The section on 'Digital Security' and network segmentation is gold. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a smart home without sacrificing their privacy.

This is the book I wish I had before I started my renovation. Most guides just list cool gadgets, but Cláudio actually explains the infrastructure—the wiring, the networking, and the electrical panel upgrades you need to support everything. The chapters on 'Preparing Your Home' and dealing with US electrical codes (NEC) saved me from making expensive mistakes. If you are building or remodeling, read this before you let the drywall go up!
