Synopsis

In 1918 the German chancellor announced that he was willing to negotiate the end of the war according to the 14-Point Program of the American president Wilson.

November 11, 1918 - France: at 11:00 in the morning, the Armistice is signed between the Allies and the German Empire, in a train car in the forest of Compiègne.

The hostilities on the Western Front of the Great War ... were over.

Immediate withdrawal of all German troops deployed in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Alsace-Lorraine.

The German troops withdraw from the Eastern Front to German territory, returning to the borders of August 1, 1914.

Germany renounces the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk with Russia and the Treaty of Bucharest with Romania.

The German fleet is interned in allied bases.

Germany is obliged to deliver 5,000 guns, 25,000 machine guns, 3,000 mortars, 1,700 aircraft, 5,000 locomotives, and 150,000 rail cars.

From that moment on, there was no talk of a peace without winners or losers...

The peace treaty left aside all the points of President Wilson's program; with threats, the victors imposed their harsh conditions: Germany had been deceived and protested in vain against the treaty. Indignant protests by Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Turkey were also not heard.

Ruben Ygua

Historiador, romancista e ilustrador.
