Além de ter seus próprios méritos, a tragédia Exagoge, escrita pelo dramaturgo Ezechielus, em Alexandria, assume fundamental importância no estudo do drama grego na era helenista porque seus fragmentos representam a porção mais considerável de uma peça que foi conservada daquele período. A influência de Ésquilo e Eurípides se faz sentir e a familiaridade de Ezechielus com a dramaturgia ateniense do século V a.C. é especialmente percebida por seu contato com as tragédias Íon (de Eurípides), bem como Os persas e As súplices (de Ésquilo).
