Synopsis

A Gothic Tale of Faith, Fear, and the Unseen

In the shadowed hills of Pamplona, capital of the Kingdom of Navarra, young Adolfina’s simple peasant life is shattered when the Inquisition comes to town. It is 1489, and an inquisitorial court has been established—bringing with it a wave of dread, suspicion, and flames that lick the night sky.

But a deeper mystery unfolds within the sacred walls of the Monastery of San Benedito. Whenever Monsignor Estupinácio, the merciless chief inquisitor, pronounces a verdict condemning another “witch,” a strange and enchanted sleep falls upon the friars—a slumber from which some do not wake. Is Pamplona cursed? Does the inquisitor’s hammer pulse with a power older than the Church itself?

Tasked with uncovering the truth are Friar Albinair, a man of quiet compassion, and Friar Honório, tormented by visions of a darker design. Together, they must navigate a labyrinth of faith and fear, where holy men hide unholy secrets, and where the line between divine justice and demonic influence blurs into smoke.

Inspired by the infamous Malleus Maleficarum, The Witches’ Hammer plunges readers into the heart of the European witch hunts—a world of sacred bonfires, whispered spells, and torturous interrogations. But behind the accusations of heresy lie human ambitions: vengeful hearts, hidden vendettas, and sins far darker than those condemned at the stake.

In this atmospheric gothic thriller, the true witchcraft is not in the forests, but in the hearts of those who judge—and the most terrifying power may lie not in a spell, but in a verdict.
