Natural de Recife-PE, com pós-graduação em Gestão de Segurança Pública e Defesa Social, integrou as fileiras do Exército brasileiro como Oficial R/2 da Arma de Infantaria, onde serviu por oito anos em três organizações militares. Após seu desligamento do Exército, ingressou na Polícia Militar do Distrito Federal e fez carreira até o posto de Tenente-Coronel, encontrando-se atualmente na reforma. Na área profissional, foi comandante de Unidades, destacando-se o Batalhão Barão do Rio Branco e o Batalhão de Operações Especiais, ambas em Brasília. É graduado pela Academia Nacional no FBI (EUA), no Centro de Capacitação Internacional MASHAV (Israel), no Ministério do Interior da China e no Centro de Criminalística da PMERJ (Brasil), dentre outros. Integrou a Operação de Paz da ONU em Moçambique (ONUMOZ) como Observador Policial.
