Natural de Recife-PE, é pós-graduado em Gestão de Segurança Pública e Defesa Social, Após oito anos como Oficial do Exército brasileiro (Oficial R/2 da Arma de Infantaria), onde serviu em três organizações militares, ingressou na Polícia Militar do Distrito Federal (PMDF) e fez carreira até o posto de Tenente-Coronel, Hoje, encontra-se na reforma. Na área profissional, foi comandante de Unidades, destacando-se o Batalhão Barão do Rio Branco e o Batalhão de Operações Especiais, ambas em Brasília. É graduado pela Academia Nacional no FBI (EUA), no Centro de Capacitação Internacional MASHAV (Israel), no Ministério do Interior da China e no Centro de Criminalística da PMERJ (Brasil), dentre outros cursos. Integrou a Operação de Paz da ONU em Moçambique (ONUMOZ) como Observador Policial.
