In this short book, the author artfully and simply presents us with delightful pages filled with mystery, adventure, suspense, and action that will capture children's imaginations.
Certainly, the smooth narration and pleasant description of scenes in a bucolic setting will capture the attention of children and teenagers in their incessant search for the unknown, for mystery, for what lies beyond the horizon, beyond that hill, on the other side of the river.
For adults, this reading, in addition to cultural entertainment, can help rescue something that today may not exist or be valued and, sometimes, even make sense: the taste of wild fruit, the delicious scent of a flower, the simple smell of the earth, of the country air!
Anyway, my opinion on the author's writings would be somewhat suspect, since in a way I am somewhat complicit in his blessed “addiction to writing,” as Mário (Menino) Quintana would say, or as I would say, his “sin of writing,” since he is a kind of “our creation,” and, as you know, the owl boasts about its stump, its chicks, etc. However, this “stump,” this “chick,” is very special. Text (from 1995) by Professor Anselmo Campesato (In Memoriam).
